Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?

[edit]

The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.

I've been expanding the article (trying to get it C-class)

[edit]

I have expanded the article significantly by adding much more content to the page. Still, in my opinion, it should stay start- class unless it gets over 20,000 or 25,000 bytes long. I'm trying to expand as much as I can. I'll try to get this to C-class status (and maybe mid-importance). To get to C-class, I will expand this significantly (well longer than 15,000 bytes). Government and infrastructure section too short. I can expand this article also, by using the city website.

[edit]

The section is very short, talking only about prisons. It needs like city hall, mayor content, and anything else. The good thing is it has two references. I really want to try to make this C-class so in order to receive this rating this needs to be expanded significantly.UsefulWikipedia (talk) 20:40, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

References added (Double the old amount)

[edit]

All articles need sources for verification. Goodyear, Arizona on December 14, 2011 had only 7 references (lacking severely), but as of December 19, 2012, the article has now double the amount of references.UsefulWikipedia (talk) 00:41, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update on references

[edit]

Goodyear used to have only seven references but now has three times that: 21. UsefulWikipedia (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Goodyear history

[edit]

I have found some information about the history of Goodyear. There are 2 historically significant locations in Arizona that are related to Goodyear, both were created by the Goodyear tire and rubber company in 1917. There is this location, which started with the purchase of 16000 acres of land by Goodyear rubber and tire company, which is now the city of Goodyear. In its early days this settlement was called Egypt, named for the Egyptian long staple cotton that was grown here.

The second site, which was created in 1917 as well was formed when the Goodyear rubber and tire company leased 8000 acres of land from Dr. A.J. Chandler 4 miles south of the chandler town site. This area covered 12 square miles from hunt hwy on the south to Ocotillo rd on the north, and from McQueen rd on the east to Price rd on the west. Goodyear spent more than $1.5 million in improvements to the land, including developing a town. This company town provided workers with everything they needed, including housing, medical care, schools, shopping, and entertainment all provided by the Goodyear company. The cotton market crashed in 1920, forcing Goodyear to sell off its interests near Chandler and consolidate its operations in Arizona to the West Valley.

Goodyear City Hall photo

[edit]

The city hall photo in the infobox is outdated and needed to be replaced by the city’s new city hall. RandomMainstream (talk) 15:47, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
