There is very little info on each of these. I would suggest putting info on this page rather than creating new articles until there's more-than-a-stub.Zosodada 17:38, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Citation on invention

[edit]

The un-sourced "created in 1908" is confusing -- as I understand it, though there were news films as far back as the 1890s, the "newsreel" began when Pathe began distributing weekly in 1910. Cf: http://sunnycv.com/steve/filmnotes/newsreel.html

Let me know if anyone has more info. Grahamtalk/mail/e 15:38, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Daily Bioscope

[edit]

The cinema "Daily Bioscope" is given a foundation date in 1909 but this source lists May 1906: https://thebioscope.net/2010/08/30/the-london-project-2/

Either way, that's before newsreels were invented in a form we'd call "newsreels." Grahamtalk/mail/e 15:47, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

newsreel: formatted multi-subject "non-fiction" juxtaposed film clips with audio/textual description, presented as a package and distributed as a series of similar film clip packages

UK Newsreels

[edit]

What's with the random list at the beginning labeled "UK Newsreels." It seems completely out of place and isn't even a full list in the first place. Alanhannah (talk) 02:33, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure it's necessary to have the list, since some (most?) is covered properly in prose in the History section, but for now I've moved it lower in the article. I also uncommented out the sources. Schazjmd (talk) 15:35, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
